The 1901 census for Leith recorded Ellen Adams, a wife with a daughter, though her husband is not named in the entry, living at 13 Henderson Street with her mother Mary Haims and a cousin "Jane" Nisbet. Ellen was a dressmaker who worked on her own account at home. She was 29 years old and had been born in Edinburgh. Her daughter Mary was 3 years old and had been born in Leith. Mary Haims was 62 years old and born in Edinburgh. Both Mary and Ellen were recorded as married. "Jane" Nisbet, as the entry has it, was probably Ina Nisbet -Isabella Sandilands Nisbet- daughter of Isabella Haimes and Alexander Nisbet. Ina married from this address in 1902. ¹
