The name of "John Ross of Allanbuy" is included in a list of rebels in the 1715 rebellion contained in a "Letter from Lord Chief Justice Cockburn to Lord Townshend from Edinburgh, September 8, 1716". 1

John next married Elizabeth GORDON, daughter of Captain Alexander GORDON 4th of Arradoul and Bailie of Badenoch and Cecilia KING. (Elizabeth GORDON was born about 1669.)
