John married Margaret MORRISON, daughter of Alexander MORRISON Cotton Spinner and Catherine QUIGLEY, in 1859 in Bridgeton, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Margaret MORRISON was born about 1835.)


John next married Catherine Tweedly DICK, daughter of John DICK and Margaret MORRISON, on 18 Dec 1817 in Edinburgh, Scotland.2 (Catherine Tweedly DICK was born on 6 Mar 1860 in High Church, Glasgow, Scotland 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

The Old Parish Register for Peebles recorded a regularisation of this marriage on 25 January 1818 as follows:

"Thomas Brodie son of John Brodie in Peebles and Helen Nisbet daughter of Thomas Nisbet, grieve to Mr Laidlaw in the farm of Horsbrugh Castle, compeared this day before the session and produced marriage lines dated Edinburgh 18 December 1817 and signed Robert Crawford minister. They acknowledge themselves married, were rebuked for irregularity, and exhorted, and their marriage was ordered to be recorded" 2
