William married Sophia STRACHAN, daughter of Alexander STRACHAN Merchant and Postmaster in Banff and Margaret ROBERTSON. (Sophia STRACHAN was born in 1733, died on 10 Apr 1781 in Banff Parish, Banffshire, Scotland and was buried in Banff Churchyard, Banffshire, Scotland.)
