Duncan's father, James Tweedley, gave notice of his birth before James Coats, registrar, at Glasgow on 1 February 1855.

The 1901 census recorded Duncan Tweedley and is wife Mary living at 128 Queen's Drive, in Cathcart parish, Rebfrewshire, now south-sdie of Glasgow. He was a spirit merchant. ^{3 4}

Duncan married Mary STEWART, daughter of James STEWART and Mary CROMBAY, on 6 Apr 1880 in St John's RC Chapel, Portugal Street, Glasgow, Scotland. (Mary STEWART was born about 1858 in Rothesay, Bute, Scotland ⁴.)

  Marriage Notes:

Duncan and Mary were married according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest who married them was Fr Peter Donnelly. Peter Howie and Rebecca Brannan were the witnesses.

Duncan was a mercantile clerk aged 25 years and unmarried. He lived at 262 Cumberland Street Glasgow.

Mary lived at 46 Butterbiggin Road. She too had not been married before and she was 22 years of age. ⁵

Duncan next married James QUIGLEY, son of Hugh QUIGLEY and Elizabeth McLEA, on 1 Oct 1747 in Inveresk With Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ (James QUIGLEY was born on 12 Feb 1818 in Glasgow, Scotland ⁶, christened on 22 Feb 1818 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland ⁷ and died 19 December 1884 at 12 noon in 262 Cumberland Street, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of his death was pernicious anaemia of 2 and a half months duration.
