Agnes Quigley was recorded by the 1881 census for Moffat, Dumfriesshire living at Craigieburn Woodhead with her husband their five children, ranging in age from 14 years to 7 months, and her husband's nephew, Andrew. Agnes was recorded as 41 years of age and her birthplace as Dryfsdale, Dumfriesshire. ²

Agnes married Edward DOCHERTY on 31 Dec 1878 in 3 Marchhall Crescent, Newington, Edinburgh, Scotland. (Edward DOCHERTY was born about 1830 and died after 8 Dec 1874 ³.)

  Marriage Notes:

The minister was James Cameron, snr., DD, Minister of High Parish. The witnesses were Jane Kilgour and John Murphy.

Henry William Richards was a bachelor of 20 years of age resident at the Royal Barracks Dublin. He was a Private in the 91st Regiment of Foot. His father was deceased.

Margaret Haddow was aged 20 years and unmarried. She worked as a dressmaker and resided at 2 Craig's Close, High Street, Edinburgh. She was recorded as the daughter of Robert Haddow, iron moulder, deceased, and Isabella Sanderlands [sic].

The marriage was registered on 10 January 1879 at Edinburgh, D.R. Brown being the registrar.

Agnes next married James QUIGLEY, son of Andrew QUIGLY and Mary BELL, on 5 Jan 1872 in Torthorwald, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. (James QUIGLEY was born on 1 Jan 1835 in Dryfesdale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland ^{2 4 5 6} and was christened on 22 Mar 1835 in St Andrew's RC Church, Dumfries, Scotland ^{5 6}.)

One of the IGI entries names the husband here as James Tweedlie, another as James Tweedie, both found as variants at this time in Scotland of the surname Quigly or Quigley. James is noted as 34 years old and Agnes as 36 years. ¹
