The 1851 census for Wallace Street Wallacetown in Ayrshire recorded Catrine Hardy as head of a small household consisting of herself and two young children. She was recorded as aged 28 years and born in New Luce Wigtownshire. She was a hawker of clothing. ⁵

Catherine married Francis VALLELLY on 30 Jul 1843 in Our Lady and St Ninian RC Church, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire, Scotland.¹ (Francis VALLELLY was born about 1818 in County Louth, Ireland ⁸ and died on 12 Jul 1887 in Largiebeg, Kilbride, County of Bute, Scotland ^{6 7}.). The cause of his death was British cholera over 4 days.
