Patrick Vallely was recorded by the 1871 census for Greenock Middle parish as the head of a household that was living at 8 Manse Lane Greenock. The household consisted of himself, his wife, and their three children. Patrick was Irish born and was recorded as 57 years of age. He worked as a labourer.

When Susan Vallely died in 1879 her death certificate recorded her as the widow of Patrick Vallely, general labourer.

Patrick Vallaly was recorded as a general labourer in the marriage certificate of his son, also Patrick Vallaly, in 1883. ^{3 4 6}

Patrick married Susan McKENNA, daughter of Charles McKENNA and Margaret McINALLY. (Susan McKENNA was born about 1835 in Ireland ^{2 3 7} and died on 30 Sep 1879 in 47 Milltown, Dundee, Angus, Scotland ².). The cause of her death was bronchitis over 6 days.

Patrick next married Edward QUIGLEY.¹ (Edward QUIGLEY was born about 1810 in Ireland.)
