   Cause of his death was carcinoma of the oesophagus.

  General Notes:

In March 1868 Richard was described as aged 3 years by his father in his parish relief application.

Richard was recorded aged 6 years when his mother applied for poor relief in 1871 in Glasgow.

The 1891 census says he was unmarried, aged 24 years and employed as an edge tool worker.

In a later poor relief application, Richard was noted as being a labourer in Mathieson's tool work, earning 21/-. He was residing at 26 Annfield Street, paying rent of £9, the residence having two apartments.

In 1916 Richard's 13 year old son Arthur died at 180 Thomson Street in Camlachie, Glasgow. Richard's occupation was noted on the death certificate as 'edgetool machinist'. Richard notified the registrar of his son's death.

Richard died in 1942 and was survived by his wife Mary. He was aged 77 years and was recorded as having been a 'tool machinist'. 9 10 11 12

H. L. McCormick MB ChB certified the cause of death.

Mary Lyness, widow of the deceased, who had been present, gave notice of his death to the registrar at Glasgow, J. G. Malcolm on 24 August 1942.


Richard married Mary DILLON, daughter of William DILLON and Catherine GREEN, on 15 Nov 1895 in St Mungo's Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Mary DILLON was born on 28 Nov 1868 in High Church, Glasgow, Scotland 5 and died after 22 Aug 1942.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Catholic Church. Justin Muldoon was the celebrating priest. The witnesses were Thomas Dillon and Mary Lyness.

Richard, of 99 Albert Street, was a bachelor of 28 years whose occupation was an 'augur screwing machinist'. His father was deceased and his mother still living.

Mary Dillon, also of 99 Albert Street, was an unmarried woman of 26 years who was a carpet weaver. Both of her parents were alive. 1

Richard next married John MILROY, son of Alexander MILROY and Hannah LENNOX, on 12 Feb 1682 in Strathdon Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2 (John MILROY was born on 25 May 1867 in Kirkcowan, Wigtownshire, Scotland 5.)

"Alexander (Forbes), who received Invernettie, married .... (2) Elspeth Anderson, leaving an only child, Elspeth. He disponed the lands of Invernettie about 1685 to his father-in-law in security for a debt of 3000 marks. They passed soon after to his first cousin, William Forbes of Edinglassie, second son of the 2nd Laird of Skellater, whose son, John, was served heir to his father in the lands of Invernettie, July 14th, 1692."
