  General Notes:

Her marriage record in 1850 recorded Elizabeth as being from Co Leitrim, Ireland.

The index of the1851 census shows a record of an Elizabeth Quigly aged 22 years living in the parish of Irvine, Ayrshire.

At the time of her daughter Elizabeth's birth in February 1855, the child's birth certificate stated that Elizabeth Degnan was "aged 24 and a half years" and had been born in Dumshambo (or possibly Drumshambo), County Leitrim, Ireland. Baby Elizabeth was her third child, the family now consisting of one boy and two girls living. Elizabeth was the informant on this occasion before registrar James Orr at Stevenston on 19 March 1855. She signed her name to the information she had given.


Elizabeth married Catherine McGEARY, daughter of James McGEARY and Agnes QUIGLEY.1 (Catherine McGEARY was born on 19 Dec 1856 in Kilmarnock Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland 4 5 6.)

Elizabeth next married Samuel QUIGLEY, son of Samuel QUIGLY and Catharine DOCHARTY, on 3 Feb 1850 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Samuel QUIGLEY was born on 1 May 1830 8 and was christened on 31 Jul 1830 in St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 8.)


  Marriage Notes:

Samuel and Elizabeth were married by Fr Thomas Wallace and their witnesses were John Dignam and Agnes Quigly. 9
