  General Notes:

The 1861 census for Kilmarnock Ayrshire recorded Sarah Marshall and her six children living in her mother's household at 19 Fore Street. Sarah was a widow whose occupation was 'flowerer'. Her birthplace was Kilmarnock and she was recorded as 45 years old. One of the children was Helen McDonald, born in Kilmarnock and aged 3 years. She was listed as the granddaughter of Agnes Marshall, the head of the household.

In 1871 Ellen Marshall was living with her mother Sarah Marshall at 26 back Street Kilmarnock, the twon of her birth. She was recorded as 13 years of age. ^{2 4}

Ellen married John McANARNY, son of John McANARNEY and Sarah MARSHALL.¹ (John McANARNY was born about 1848 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.)
