James married John HAGANS, son of John HIGGINS and Catherine CURRAN.2 (John HAGANS was born about 1827 3 and died 24 July 1867 at 3.40 pm in Whifflet, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.). The cause of his death was "supposed rupture of blood vessels of Heart as death ensued in a few minutes".

"Lord Elphinstone died on Sunday, 14 January 1638, at Elphinstone. He married (contract dated 1 and 10 April 1575) Jane Livingstone, eldest daughter of William, sixth Lord Livingstone, by Agnes, daughter of Malcolm, Lord Fleming. She died at Elphinstone 15 September 1621. They had issue"
