General Notes: This was the second child in the family to be given this name. John had a relationship with.1 2 3 Marriage Notes: "Margaret, named in the contract of her sister Catherine in 1518, cited above. She was contracted on 11 July 1527, to Robert Douglas of Lochleven, and married him, but became the mother, about 1531, by King James V., of James Stewart, afterwards the Regent Moray. She was living as the wife of Douglas in 1540." John had a relationship with William QUIGHLEY, son of Joseph QUIGLY and Mary FINIE.3 (William QUIGHLEY was born on 4 Sep 1813 5 and was christened on 5 Sep 1813 in St Mary's RC Chapel, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland 5.) John had a relationship with John VALLELY, son of John VALLELY and Alice QUINN.3 (John VALLELY was christened on 29 Mar 1827 in Dungannon Parish, County Tyrone, Ireland 4.) John had a relationship with Alexander HERD. (Alexander HERD was born about 1765.) Marriage Notes: "Euphemia (Elphinstone), born 11 May 1509. She had in 1533 an illegitimate son by King James V, named Robert Stewart, who was in 1581 created Earl of Orkney. (See that title.) She afterwards was married (contract 13 April 1540) to John Bruce of Cultmalundie, with issue." John next married Janet VALLELY, daughter of John VALLELY and Alice QUINN, in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France.3 (Janet VALLELY was christened on 19 Jan 1834 in Dungannon Parish, County Tyrone, Ireland 4.) Marriage Notes: "James v. married, first, 1 January 1536-37, at Notre Dame in Paris, Madeleine de Valois, eldest daughter of Francis I., King of France. She, who was born August 1520, died of consumption at Holyrood, 7 July 1537." John had a relationship with James Sangster WILSON, son of Sergeant Major George WILSON of the Royal Artillery and Elspet HERD.3 (James Sangster WILSON was born on 14 Feb 1833, christened on 19 Mar 1833 in Alvah Parish, Banffshire, Scotland and died on 3 Apr 1921 in Clevedon, New Zealand.) Marriage Notes: "Helenor, who bore a son [1Adam, Prior of Charterhouse] to King James V., and was married, first, to William, Earl of Erroll ; and secondly, in August 1548, to John, sixth Earl of Sutherland."
