   Cause of his death was capillary brochitis over 7 days and cardiac failure for 1 day.3

  General Notes:

The 1851 census recorded Thomas living in Glasgow with his mother Rose, his brother Patrick and his sisters Sarah and Elizabeth. He was aged 13 years.

In 1857 Thomas was a clothlapper and lived with his mother. He earned 10/- a week. He was 18 years old.

He was 'aged 20' at his marriage in 1859.

Thomas was a 'hot presser' according to his son Arthur's birth certificate, and he notified the registrar of son Arthur's birth in 1874 and signed his name in the register.

In 1875 a Thomas Quigley was witness to the marriage of Peter Quigley and Mary Ann Mearns.

When Thomas Quigley died in 1896 his death certificate recorded him as a hot presser by occupation. He had been married to 1st Mary Kelly and 2nd Catherine McGuire or Cameron. He died in the Royal Infirmary Glasgow, but his usual residence was 579 Dalmarnock Road. He was recorded as 54 years of age when he died. His mother was recorded as "Elizabeth" instead of Rose, the informant being the second wife of Thomas. 4 5 6

Robert H. Allen MB certified the causes of death.

Catherine Quigley, widow of the deceased, gave notice of his death before the registrar, Peter Ferguson, at Glasgow on 21 March 1896, and made her X mark. 3


Thomas married Mary KELLY on 7 Mar 1859 in St Mary's RC Church, Abercrombie Street, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Mary KELLY was born about 1837.)


  Marriage Notes:

The bride and groom resided at 26 Tobago Street, Calton.

The groom was a 'cloth lapper' and no employment was recorded for the bride.

The marriage was conducted according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church and Fr Frederick Chisholm, RCC, officiated.

The witnesses were William McClinnes and Elizabeth Waddell. 7

Thomas next married Jane DONALDSON, daughter of James DONALDSON and Sarah Jane MURRAY.2 (Jane DONALDSON was born about 1879 in Bothwell Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.)

"William Mair, born 1673, son of John M., min. of Tough; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (13th July 1693); ord. to Oyne 27th Feb. 1701; called 13th July 1709; he settled himself (in obedience to the instructions of the General Assembly 3rd May) between 19th and 26th July, without being formally admitted, and was received as a member of the Presb. 27th Dec. 1710; died between 6th Jan. and 24th Feb. 1742, aged about 69. He marr. (1) Barbara, daugh. of Adam Barclay, min. of Perth, and had issue John, min. of Rayne; Elizabeth (marr. John Fraser at Hildowntree)...."
