A young man in the 30-34 years age range, called James Nisbet, was recorded by the 1841 census for Hardgate Street, Haddington, living with Francis Nisbet, aged in the 70-74 years age range, and William, aged in the 25-29 years age range. James was a 'skinner journeyman'. He had been born in East Lothian.
