The 1841 census recorded Jean King aged in the 45-49 years age group living with (presumably) her husband John, and three daughters aged from 8 years to 23 years. Her birthplace was Ireland. ^{2 3 4}

JOHN KING'S WIFE

There is uncertainty about whether John King had one or more than one partner. According to the information given by Jane's son, Charles McGonnagal, who made his X mark, in the death notification of his mother, both of the parents of Jane or Jean King, that is to say John King, a weaver, and Margaret Hume (?), were noted as deceased in Jane King's death certificate of 1911. Whether he made a mistake about his grandmother's name, or whether there were in fact two partners of John King is unknown as yet.

Jean married John KING. (John KING was born about 1790 in Scotland but not Angus ³.)

Jean next married McGUIGAN.¹ (McGUIGAN was born about 1870.)
