HARRIS, John 1Cause of his death was scarlatina over 4 days.1 General Notes: John Harris was 4 years old when he died in 1858. His father, a harbour labourer who made his X mark, was the informant of his death. 1 Medical Notes: Andrew Mungall, surgeon, who saw the child on 3 September 1858, certified the cause of death. John married Helen HAGGARTY.2 (Helen HAGGARTY was born about 1810.) Marriage Notes: "Mr. Robert (Burnett), at King's College in 1664, where he graduated, 1668. In 1674 he was made an honorary burgess of Aberdeen ; and in 1675 he purchased Glenbervie from his father's cousin-german, Robert, eldest son of Sir William Douglas, Bart, (to whom Glenbervie had been conveyed by his father), and a few years afterwards married Katherine, daughter of this same Sir William Douglas (by Janet, daughter of Alexander Irvine of Drum). On the death of her brother. Sir Robert Douglas, at Sternkirk in 1692, Katherine became heir of line of that branch of the Angus family. Mr. Robert died in 1699, having had by Katherine Douglas three sons and two daughters." |
