Mary Ann Donaldson was the informant of the birth of her son James before the registrar at Kilwinning on 10 January 1863. She made her X mark.

James Donaldson, son of the James Donaldson senior, who had been present where his father's death occurred, gave notice of the death before the registrar at Baillieston on 16 April 1888.

James Donaldson died in 1938. His death certificate recorded him as a miner's agent and married to Rose Ann McGreechin. His age at death was recorded as 75 years. His parents were deceased. ^{3 6}

Henry Donaldson, designed 'Step Brother' of James, of 7 Muirpark Avenue, Renfrew, gave notice of James Donaldson's death before the registrar at Renfrew on 22 October 1938.

James married Rose Ann McGREEHIN, daughter of Patrick McGREEHIN and Margaret BURNS, on 7 Jun 1881 in St Bridget's RC Church, Baillieston, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Rose Ann McGREEHIN was born about 1861 in Ireland and died on 29 Jul 1943.)
