  General Notes:

Ann's husband notified the registrar when Thomas, her brother, died in 1846. The first name of this person was recorded as Arthur or Matthew.

Matthew Moore was the informant of the birth of his daughter Margaret in June 1855. The birth certificate recorded that he was a cotton weaver, aged 36 years, and had been born in Darvel Ayrshire. He and his wife had married in 1844 at Prestwick. They had 1 boy and 2 girls living, and 2 boys and 1 girl deceased. 3 4

Matthew married Ann GEORGE, daughter of William GEORGE and Mary CAMERON, on 10 Feb 1844 in Monkton & Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Ann GEORGE was born on 20 Mar 1820 in Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland 3 and was christened on 3 Apr 1820 in Monkton & Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland 1.)

Matthew next married Hannah ORR on 3 Dec 1784 in Dalkeith parish, Midlothian, Scotland.2 (Hannah ORR was born about 1759.)

  Marriage Notes:

The banns of marriage were called in Inveresk with Musselburgh parish on the same date.

In both Dalkeith and Inveresk parishes, in the parish register data about the marriage, references were made in the register about an irregular marriage contracted previously between these two parties in Edinburgh. An irregular marriage was one which did not take place under the auspices of the established church. This may refer to a marriage contracted within the nonconformist Burgher Church in Edinburgh, that was not to the approval of the Church of Scotland minister when a subsequent child of that union was brought for baptism in the Church of Scotland.

Margaret Youll, and her brothers David and James, were baptised in the Burgher dissenting church, so it is possible she and Richard Webster contracted a marriage there. 2 5

Matthew had a relationship with Sarah GREEN, daughter of George GREEN in Dungannon and Eliza Jane MILLAR in Gortmerron. (Sarah GREEN was born on 1 Jan 1875 in Ireland 6.)
