General Notes: Mary Harris, Thomas McCormick's aunt, who had been present where the child's birth occurred, gave notice of Thomas's birth before the registrar at Glasgow on 20 June 1857, and made her X mark. Her address was noted as 32 New Street Calton. Research Notes: BINNIE PLACE Mary married George FULTON, son of William FULTON and Margaret GRAHAM, on 19 Dec 1538 in Lindores Abbey, Newburgh, Fife, Scotland.1 (George FULTON was born about 1845.) Marriage Notes: "He (William, Lord Forbes) died in 1593, having married, in the Abbey Church of Lindores, on 19 December 1538, Elizabeth, daughter and co-heiress with her sister Margaret, Countess of Marischal, of Sir William Keith of Inverugie, and had eight sons and eight daughters ... " Mary next married Alfred STOKES, son of Alfred STOKES and Elizabeth GREEN, on 27 Aug 1862 in 15 Binnie Place, Glasgow, Scotland. (Alfred STOKES was born about 1836.) Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. William Rossborough was the minister. The witnesses were William Burrough and E. Spence. |
