   Cause of her death was chronic nephritis.

   Other names for Margaret were LYNESS, Margaret, LYONS, Margaret, McCREATH, Maggie,6 McCREATHE, Margaret 7 and McGRATH, Margaret.8 9

  General Notes:

In the 1855 birth certificate of her daughter Margaret, Margaret McCreath and her husband were recorded as having one boy living and three girls dead. Margaret was her fifth child. Margaret McCreath was aged 25 years and had been born in Kilmarnock.

When Margaret Lyons died in 1901 her death certificate recorded her as married to James Lyons journeyman stonemason. Her age was noted as 65 years. Both of her parents were deceased, though only her father's name was recorded. 3 5 9 10

Alex Prentice MB certified the cause of death.

The informant was her son Edward Lyons of 12 Richardland Road Kilmarnock, who gave notice before the registrar, Martin Steven, at Kilmarnock on 12 December 1901. 5


Margaret married Thomas LYONS, son of James LYONS and Margaret McCREATH, before Mar 1460.1 (Thomas LYONS was born on 12 Sep 1857 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (John Stewart) married, first, Margaret Douglas, the Fair Maid of Galloway, only daughter and ultimate heiress of Archibald, fifth Earl of Douglas, Duke of Touraine. She married, first, in 1444, William, eighth Earl of Douglas, and on his death his brother James, ninth Earl. After the latter's rebellion in 1455 she remained with him in England for a time, but about 1459 she is said to have repaired to King James II. entreating mercy, saying that she was forced to these ungodly nuptials against her will. The marriage being dissolved she was married to Atholl, as her third husband, before March 1460."

Margaret next married James LYONS, son of John LYON and Unknown, on 8 Apr 1849 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.2 (James LYONS was born about 1827 in County Monaghan, Ireland 2 3 4 and died 19 January 1906 at 3 pm in 15 Union Street, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland 6.). The cause of his death was apoplexy.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage between James and Margaret was solemnised by Father William Casey. The witnesses' names were indecipherable.

The couple married in 1848 at Kilmarnock according to the birth certificate of their daughter Margaret in 1855. 2 3

Margaret next married Elenor GEORGE, daughter of John GEORGE and Ann GEORGE MS UNKNOWN, before 19 Apr 1475.1 (Elenor GEORGE was christened on 30 Jul 1809 in Down Church of Ireland Parish, County Down, Ireland 11.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (John Stewart) married, secondly, before 19 April 1475, Eleanor Sinclair, stated to be a daughter of William (Sinclair), Earl of Orkney and Caithness. He had issue by both wives."
