Thomas and his family were recorded by the 1851 census living in Old Monkland parish, Lanarkshire. Thomas and his wife were 32 years old. John was 10 years old, Samuel was 8 years old, Margaret 6 years old, Sarah 4 years old, Thomas 2 years old, and Mary Jane 1 year old.

The 1871 census recorded Mary as aged 53 years and born in County Armagh, Ireland.

In 1881 the census recorded Mary living with her family at 8 Addies Square in the parish of Bothwell. She was aged 62 years and had been born in Ireland. ³

Mary married Thomas QUIGLEY, son of QUIGLEY and Sarah QUIGLEY MS UNKNOWN.¹ (Thomas QUIGLEY was born about 1818 in County Armagh, Ireland and died before 11 Oct 1888.)

Mary next married Sarah GILBRAITH on 13 Apr 1740.² (Sarah GILBRAITH was born about 1795.)

  Marriage Notes:

"William Oakley, Rector of Forton, Staffordshire, and Vicar of Holy Cross, Shrewsbury, married Christian Strachan, the elder of Sir Patrick's daughters, on 13th April, 1740. She died 1790. He survived till October 1803."
