  General Notes:

The 1881 census for Barony parish Glasgow recorded Lily Tweedly as head of the household resident at 315 Dalmarnock Road. She was recorded as 40 years of age and had been born in Glasgow. She was a widow. The household consisted of herself, her six children and two boarders, Duncan York an iron screwer, and John Milligan an iron labourer. Both of these were recorded as aged 19 years, unmarried, and born in Glasgow. 3


Lilly married Henry TWEEDLY, son of Charles TWEEDLEY and Jane MASON, on 29 Jul 1859 in Regent Terrace, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Henry TWEEDLY was born about 1835 in Ireland 4 and died 5 August 1878 at 1.15 am in 350 Nuneaton Street, Glasgow, Scotland 5.). The cause of his death was angina pectoris.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according to the forms of the Presbyterian Church. The officiating minister was John Graham, of Barrack Street Church, Glasgow. The witnesses were David Fleming and Stewart Morison.

Henry, aged 22 years, of 12 Claybrae, Duke Street, Glasgow, was unmarried, and worked as a tinsmith and gasfitter.

Lilly was 20 years old, also unmarried, and of the same address, and worked in a mill.

Both signed the register. 6

Lilly next married Samuel MILLER, son of Alexander MILLER and Unknown, on 26 Jun 1900 in The Manse, Mid Calder, Midlothian, Scotland.2 (Samuel MILLER was born about 1845 7 and died between 14 Mar 1890 and 8 Jan 1936 8 9.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place, after banns, according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The minister was D. J. Moir Porteous BD, Minister of Mid Calder. The witnesses were James Gordon and Marion Simpson.

George Gordon was an unmarried man of 24 years of age. He worked as an oilwork labourer, and lived at Lagandarroch House, Pumpherston, Mid Calder.

Margaret Simpson was also 24 years of age and unmarried. She lived at 63 Pumpherston, Mid Calder, and worked as a domestic servant.

The marriage was registered on 27 June 1900 at Mid Calder, Samuel Hislop being the registrar. 2
