KELLY, Mary

  • Born: About 1835
  • Marriage (1): QUIGLEY, Thomas on 25 October 1858 in Roman Catholic Chapel, Ayr, Scotland
  • Died: Between 1858 and 1861

  General Notes:

Mary was recorded in her marriage certificate as a 'hand sewer'.

Mary married Thomas QUIGLEY, son of Michael QUIGLEY and Agnes O'BRIEN, on 25 October 1858 in Roman Catholic Chapel, Ayr, Scotland. (Thomas QUIGLEY was born on 27 February 1833 in Ayrshire, Scotland 1, baptised on 27 February 1833 in St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 and died in America possibly.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church.

The groom, aged 33 years, and a cotton weaver, was normally resident at Content Street, St Quivox parish, Ayrshire. This was his first marriage. He signed the register.

The bride was of the same address, possibly of the same age, this is not clear. She was a hand sewer, and she had not been married before. She made her X mark. No parental information was given. Her residence was given as Content Street, St Quivox parish.

The priest was Fr John Gallaher RCC.
The witnesses were Thomas Reid and Margaret Ewart.
The registrar's name was indecipherable.

NOTE
There is also a listing in Family Search of a 'marriage' of this couple on 10 October 1858 in the parish of St Quivox and Newton On Ayr. This is possibly a proclamation rather than a marriage.
