   Cause of his death was collision with an express train passing along the railway line.

   Another name for Andrew was QUEGLEY, Andrew.

  General Notes:

The 1851 census recorded Andrew Quigly aged 7 years living with his family in Bridge Street, Lockerbie. He was a scholar and had been born in Dryfesdale parish of Dumfriesshire.

Andrew Quegley died shortly after 12.00 am on the Caledonian Railway near Motherwell Station in the parish of Dalziel, Lanarkshire, on 23 September 1860 (a Sunday). It was estimated that he was 18 years old when he died.

No parental information is given for him. 1 2

  Medical Notes:

Andrew's death is likely to have been instantaneous.

His remains were buried in Lockerbie, and, on the instructions of James A. Dykes, the Procurator Fiscal, his death was registered in the parish of Dalziel before George Sneddon, registrar, on 31 October 1860.
