Robert Tweedlie has been entered as a son of Hugh Tweedlie and Elizabeth McLea on somewhat shaky evidence:
1 The date and place of his marriage
2 The use of the Tweedlie surname variant at a very early stage in the Glasgow area
3 His daughter's given name of Elizabeth
The pattern of these place him alongside William, Hugh and James in a manner that seems more than coincidental.


Robert married Isabella LAMONT, daughter of Archibald LAMONT and Margaret WHYTE, on 26 June 1830 in Gorbals, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Isabella LAMONT was born on 6 March 1804 4, baptised on 8 March 1804 in Stuck, Rothesay, Bute, Scotland,4 died 8 August 1857 at 7.00 pm in 9 Bishop Street, Rothesay, Bute, Scotland and was buried in Southern Necropolis, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of her death was cancer of the womb suffered for some time.


Robert next married Jane McCOULL? 1858 ?. (Jane McCOULL? was born 1840 ?.)
