GORDON, Catharin ²

Catharin married Francis QUIGLEY, son of Owen QUIGLEY and Helen CASSIDY, on 28 February 1865 in St John's RC Chapel, Portugal Street, Glasgow, Scotland.^{1 2} (Francis QUIGLEY was born about 1830 in Ireland.)

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church by Fr John Kerr of St John's Portugal Street. The witnesses were James Murray and Mary McTaggart, both of whom made their X marks. The marriage was registered on 2 March 1865 at Glasgow, the registrar being J. Thomson.

Francis Quigley was a bachelor of 30 years living at 2 South Stirling Street. He was a boilermaker labourer. Both his parents were deceased at the time of his marriage. He made his X mark in the register.

Catharin Gordon was a cotton factory worker aged 26 years, living at the same address as Francis. She too had not been married before, and both of her parents were dead too. ²
