In the 1880 census in the USA Francis and his wife and family were recorded at Cherry, Sullivan, Pennsylvania, USA. Francis was recorded as the head of the household, aged 51 years, white, born in Ireland, and occupied as a labourer. Both of his parents were recorded as having been born in Ireland. ³

Francis married Catharin GORDON on 28 February 1865 in St John's RC Chapel, Portugal Street, Glasgow, Scotland.^{1 2} (Catharin GORDON was born about 1839.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites of the Roman Catholic Church by Fr John Kerr of St John's Portugal Street. The witnesses were James Murray and Mary McTaggart, both of whom made their X marks. The marriage was registered on 2 March 1865 at Glasgow, the registrar being J. Thomson.

Francis Quigley was a bachelor of 30 years living at 2 South Stirling Street. He was a boilermaker labourer. Both his parents were deceased at the time of his marriage. He made his X mark in the register.

Catharin Gordon was a cotton factory worker aged 26 years, living at the same address as Francis. She too had not been married before, and both of her parents were dead too. ²
