  General Notes:

When Helen Vallely was born it was her father Patrick Vallely who gave notice of her birth before the registrar, Peter Ferguson, at Glasgow on 22 November 1882 and made his X mark. He was recorded then as an ironwork labourer.

In 1891 the census for Dalziel parish in Lanarkshire recorded Patrick Vallery (sic) as the head of a household living at 53 Cowies Square Craigneuk in the town of Wishaw. Patrick lived with his wife andfour children. He was recorded as 40 years of age and had been born in Ireland. He worked as a steelworks furnaceman.

The 1901 cemsus for Dalziel parish recorded Patrick Vallely as head of a household consisting of himself, his wife and their four children living at 53 Cowie's Square Wishaw Road Craigneuk. Patrick was recorded as 50 years old and had been born in Ireland. He was a labourer in a steelworks.

When Patrick Vallely died in 1931 his death certificate recorded as the widower of Mary Ann Montague. His occupation was noted as bricklayer's labourer. Both of his parents were dead.

Patrick's son Charles died in 1950. In his death certificate his father Patrick was recorded as 'general labourer deceased'. 2 3 4 5 6


Patrick married Mary Ann MONTAGUE, daughter of Michael MONTIGUE and Helen ROBERTSON, on 18 October 1877 in St Mungo's Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Mary Ann MONTAGUE was born about 1855 in Glasgow, Scotland 1 2 and died before 16 February 1931 2 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant priest was Raphael Gorga. The witnesses were James McLennan and Bridget Hawkins who made her X mark.

Patrick Vallely, who made his X mark, was a single man aged 24 years. He worked as a gaswork furnaceman. He resided at 245 Garngad Road Glasgow.

Mary Ann Montigue was also single and aged 21 years. She lived at 4 Dunolly Street Glasgow and worked as a flax millworker. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 27 October 1877, John Maxton being the registrar. 1
