   Cause of his death was haematemesis, hepatic cirrhosis and myocarditis.

  General Notes:

John Tweedley, a boathirer, was recorded by the 1901 census for Rothesay, Bute, as head of a household living at 76 Montague Street. He had been born in Rothesay and was 42 years old. With him resided his wife Maggie Tweedley aged 43 years and their eight children ranging in age from John who was 17 Years old to Charles who was 1 year old.

John's son, also John, married in 1903. His father's trade was noted in the marriage certificate as fish curer.

John survived his wife Margaret who died in 1933. He was recorded in her death certificate as a fish-curer.

When he himself died in 1939, his age was recorded as 80 years. He was also recorded as a master fish curer, retired, and widower of Margaret Blue. His usual residence was noted as Marchmont, Mount Pleasant Road, Rothesay. 2 3 5

Thomas Sharp MD certified the causes of death.

Margaret Duncan, John's daughter, of the same address as that given for her father, notified W. D. McKechnie, registrar at Rothesay, on 9 November 1939 of her father's death. 5


John married Margaret BLUE on 29 December 1883 in St Mary's Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland. (Margaret BLUE was born on 10 May 1858 in Rothesay, Bute, Scotland 6 and died 26 February 1933 at 5.55 pm in 16 Mount Pleasant Road, Rothesay, Bute, Scotland.). The cause of her death was valvular disease of heart.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The officiating priest was Donald Carmichael. The witnesses were James McDonald and Mary Ann McDivitt.

John Tweedley, journeyman mason, a bachelor aged 22 years, gave his address as 21 Sister Street Glasgow. His father was deceased and his mother still living.

Margaret Blue was a domestic servant aged 22 years. She was unmarried and her address was noted as 5 Broad Street Glasgow. Both of her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 9 January 1883, James Moore being the signing registrar.

Note: this couple had at least nine children.
