   Cause of his death was bronchitis over years and general anasurea over 2 months.4

  General Notes:

Pat McConville and his wife Mary and their five children were recorded by the 1861 census for Old Monkland. Pat was recorded as 35 years of age.

The 1861 Census for the Eastern District of Old Monkland recorded the members of the household at 4 Love's Square as

The latter was a boarder; the others members of the same family.


It was Patrick who informed the registrar of his daughter Ann's death in April 1861. In her death certificate Patrick described himself as a coal miner by occupation.

Coal mining was his occupation according to the 1867 death certificate of his daughter Margaret.

When Patrick McConvey (sic) died in 1870, his death certificate recorded that he was a 'pauper, formerly a coal miner, married to Mary Murphy', and his age at death was recorded as 52 years. Both of Patrick's parents were entered in the death certificate as still living at the time of his death.

In 1873 when his son John was married, Patrick was already deceased. His occupation was noted as coal miner on John's marriage certificate. 2 4

James Dickson, surgeon, certified the causes of death.

Mary McConvey, widow of the deceased who had been present where his death occurred, gave notice of his death before the registrar, John Dickie, at Baillieston on 25 August 1870, and made her X mark.


Patrick married Mary MURPHY on 21 January 1845 in Loughgall RC parish, County Armagh, Ireland.1 (Mary MURPHY was born about 1831 in Ireland 2 and died 27 August 1891 at 4.45 am in Blacks Land, Bank Street, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was chronic bronchitis of 1 month and 7 days' duration and asthenia.4
