  General Notes:

Michael Flanagan gave notice of the birth of his son John on 20 December 1855 before the registrar at Glasgow and made his X mark. Michael was recorded as a mason's labourer, aged 27 years, and had been born in County Roscommon, Ireland. The year and place of his marriage were noted as "1851 Glasgow", though the couple were in fact married in 1852. They already had one daughter, living. 2


Michael married Mary McMAHON, daughter of Patrick McMAHON and Bridget FLANIGAN, on 10 May 1852 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Mary McMAHON was born between 1828 and 1837 in County Fermanagh, Ireland 2 5 and died 8 November 1898 at 6.50 am in City Poorhouse, Glasgow, Scotland 4.). The cause of her death was cardiac valvular disease.
