Edward was the informant of his daughter Mary Ann's birth in December 1855. Her birth certificate recorded him as an ironstone miner, aged 25 years, who had been born in 'Calyan', County Tyrone, Ireland. He and his wife Catherine had married in Airdrie in 1855. 4

  Research Notes:

BIRTHPLACE

'Calyan' as spelt by the registrar in Edward's daughter's 1855 birth certificate may be, especially considering 'Tullyniskan' was the birthplace of Catherine Fanning, 'Killyman'.


Edward married Catherine McCONVILL, daughter of Daniel McCONVIL and Mary VALLELY, on 12 February 1855 in St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Catherine McCONVILL was born about 1830 in County Tyrone, Ireland 3 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

Fr Duncan McNab married this couple. The witnesses were James Vallely and Jane McCartan or Carter. They were married after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church.
Note: A variation reading of the surnames of the witnesses as given in the GRO certificate is James Valleliee and McArter or McAnter

Edward Fauning, whose present and usual residence was recorded as Hollytown (sic), was aged 24 years and worked as a miner. His birthplace was County Tyrone in Ireland.

Catherine McConill, who made her X mark, was resident at Parkkurk (sic). She was aged 25 years and worked as a servant. She had been born in Donnachana, County Tyrone Ireland.

The marriage was registered on 15 January 1855 at Airdrie, William Landless being the registrar.

NOTE
Valleys have been recorded in Tullyniskan parish, where Catherine McConvil/Fanning said she was born.
