The date of birth for Catherine Vallely, daughter of James Vallely and Susan Stars, is recorded beside her date of baptism in the Catholic Parish Register Index as 15 March 1858.

Catharn Vallay was aged 3 years when recorded by the 1861 census for New Monkland. She had been born in Airdrie.

Catherine was aged 12 years and living with her widowed mother in the parish of New Monkland, Lanarkshire when recorded by the 1871 census.

The 1881 census for Bothwell parish recorded Cathrine Mullen living at 115 Bothwell Park Rows with her husband and three children, aged 9 months to 4 years. Cathrine was a miner's wife, aged 21 years, and had been born in Airdrie, Lanarkshire. 2 3 4 6


Catherine married Patrick MULLEN, son of Michael MULLIN and Elizabeth McEWAN, on 21 February 1878 in Stonefield, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Patrick MULLEN was born on 15 March 1858 in Rawyards, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Thomas Frawley was the celebrant priest. The witnesses were Edward Duffy and Catherine Duffy, both of whom made their X mark.

Patrick Mullin of Windsor Street, Burnbank, Hamilton was a single man of 19 years of age who worked as a clerk. His father was deceased.

Catherine Vallely was a cotton factory weaver. She was 18 years of age and single. Her address was 13 Govan Street Blantyre. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Blantyre on 25 February 1878, George Harris, registrar. 1
