  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Barony parish recorded Bernard Vallilie living with his parents, his two sisters, and his wife and two children at 38 Garscube Lane Glasgow. Bernard was aged 24 years, had been born in Ireland, and was a cooper's apprentice.

The 1861 census for Hutchesontown, in the Gorbals district of Glasgow, recorded Bernard Vallely as head of a household living at 14 Bedford Lane. He was recorded as 34 years of age and was a cooper journeyman. He had been born in Ireland. The household consisted of Bernard, his wife Mary, and their five children who all lived in a dwelling with one windowed room.

In his death certificate of 1880 Bernard was recorded as a cooper journeyman, married to Mary Kelly. he wa 53 years old. Both of his parents were deceased. ^{1 2 7 8}

BAPTISM

This baptism record may very well be Bernard, the son of Catharine Purvis, for various reasons. The transcription online is Foster, as it is for another child, a daughter Mary, but it would be advisable for anyone interested to check the original which may very well have been misread.
