.PARISH RELIEF APPLICATION

Rose Ann Kelly applied for parish relief at 5.50 pm on July 21 1863. An inspector visited her the following day at 11.00 am. Rose's address was given as 20 St Andrew's Square. She was a widow, aged 72, and had been born in Ireland. She was wholly disabled on account of her age. She had 2 sons: John aged 45 and Edward aged 41. A previous application had been made - No 28226. The settlement was Glasgow, and the assistant inspector, Hugh Lambie, signed to this effect. For former reports, the file advised seeing Dist 1 vol 5 pages 200 and 245. Settlement was Glasgow.
"Pauper has been in Poorhouse from October 1853 till 7 Inst.

House in 13/3/71. Left at own request."

When Rose's son Edward died in 1896 she herself was already deceased. 3


Rose married Edward QUIGLEY on 15 October 1813 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Edward QUIGLEY was born about 1785 and died before or in July 1863.)
