  General Notes:

The 1841 census for Drumnagarrow in Glenbucket parish, Aberdeen, recorded James Brodie, a farmer, aged in the 45 to 49 years range, living with his wife, Barbra, aged in the 30-34 year range, and their children, William, 10 years, Mary, 8 years, James, 6 years, John, 4 years, and Alexander, aged 2 years. All had been born in Aberdeenshire. Also living at Drumnagarrow separately were Alexander William, aged in the 65-69 years range, and born in Aberdeenshire, who was a handloom weaver of woollens; and Elizabeth William, aged in the 20-24 years range and born in Aberdeenshire.
NOTE: 'Glenbucket' was the spelling used in the 1841 census.

The 1851 census for Glenbucket Paris recorded James Brodie as head of the household living at Drumnagarrow. He was a farmer of thirteen acres employing one labourer. He had been born in Glenbucket and was aged 55 years. With him lived his wife, and two sons and two daughters.

James Brodie and his family lived at Drumnagarrow until at least 1881.


James married Barbara MURDOCH, daughter of William MURDOCH and Jean MILNE, on 12 June 1830 in Glenbucket Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. (Barbara MURDOCH was baptised on 17 October 1806 in Glenbucket Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland and died on 4 June 1888 in Drumnagarrow, Glenbucket, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 2.)
