   Cause of his death was gangrene of the lung.

  General Notes:

In the 1841 census for Dunkeld parish in Perthshire Peter Hardie was living in the High Street with his family, the second youngest of four children aged 6 years down to 5 months. His age was noted as 2 years old and her birthplace was Perthshire.

The census of 1851 recorded Peter Hardie aged 11 years, living in Dowally, Perthshire, where he was recorded as having been born. He lived with his aunt, Betty Fraser, who was aged 46 years, at Balenling. She was an agricultural labourer, and he was a herd or herdsman.

Peter Hardie was referred to in his death certificate as a 'pauper lunatic'. His age at death was 26 years. No parental information was noted.

  Medical Notes:

Edward Rutherford MD, resident physician in the asylum certified the cause of death.

James Jack, Clerk Steward of Perth District Asylum, gave notice of Peter's death before the registrar at little Dunkeld on 8 November 1865.
