John Tweedley was recorded by the 1881 census living with his family in Govan parish. He was aged 7 years and his birthplace was Glasgow.
In 1891 the census for Dumbarton recorded John Quiggley, aged 16 years, living with his parents and two younger brothers at 90 Main Street. He was employed as a rivet boy, and his birthplace was noted as Glasgow.
When John's father reapplied for parish relief in 1911 he gave details of his children including: "John 27, born Govanhill Street, married with 7 children to Mary Kane in Dumbarton". Later in the application was noted "John & Joseph last known with mother."
John Quigley signed his name before the registrar, Donald Bowie, at Glasgow on 8 May 1931 when giving notice of the death of his mother. His address then was recorded as 180 High Street Dumbarton.
In his death certificate of 1932 John was recorded as a journeyman rivetter, married to Mary Kane, and aged 58 years. His usual residence was 180 High Street, Dumbarton. Both of his parents were deceased. 3 4 5 6
