  General Notes:

Barbara died in 1885, at the recorded age of 39 years. In her death certificate she was recorded as having been married to James Hardie gamekeeper. Her parents were noted as James Douglas and Grace Gow, both deceased.

In the 1851 census Barbara, a recorded 6 year old, is noted as the 'niece' of the householder Alexander Conacher, husband of Janet Douglas. This suggests, if accurate, that Barbara was the natural daughter of a sister or brother of Janet Douglas, not her own sister. 2

  Medical Notes:

Geogre Dickson MB CM certified the cause of death.

James Hardie, Barbara's husband, who had been present where the death occurred gave notice of her death, gave notice of her death.

Barbara married James Fraser HARDIE, son of John HARDIE and Cathrine FRASER, on 25 November 1864 in Craiglea, Logierait, Perthshire, Scotland. (James Fraser HARDIE was baptised on 12 December 1836 in Dowally Parish, Perthshire, Scotland.)
