   Cause of his death was hemiplegia.

   Other names for Francis were VALELLY, Francis,8 VALLELEY, Francis,4 VALLELLY, Francis 5 and VALLEY, Francis.7

  General Notes:

The 1841 census for Market Lane, Springburn near Glasgow recorded the family of Francis and Jane Valleley, their two children, and a young woman Cathrine Halt aged 20 years and born in Ireland, and a child Mary Jane Halt aged 5 months, born outside the census county. All in this family entry, except the baby, were born in Ireland. Francis was aged in the 45-49 years age range and was recorded as being a carpenter.

The 1851 census for Barony parish Glasgow recorded a Francis Valley who was an inmate in Glasgow City Poorhouse. Francis Valley was recorded as 65 years of age and born in Armagh, County Armagh, Ireland. He was a widower and by occupation he was a journeyman house carpenter.

The 1861 census for Glasgow Central recorded Francis Vallelly as an inmate of the City Poorhouse. He was No 8 in the list. He was a widowed man aged 74 years and had been born in Ireland. He was a house carpenter by trade.

Francis died in the City Poorhouse of Glasgow aged 76 years in 1863. He was a pauper then, and had formerly been a joiner. He was a widower. No parental information was recorded in the death certificate.

In his son Daniel's marriage certificate of 1865 Francis was recorded as 'Francis Vallely joiner deceased'.

In the death certificate of his son Daniel in 1877, Francis Valelly was recorded as being a 'dealer in old clothes'. The submission was made by the second wife of his son Daniel, Sarah Deechan. 1 2 4 6 7 8 9

  Medical Notes:

Alex Robertson MD and William Lang MD certified the cause of death.

The registrar at Glasgow, Archibald Hood, was notified of the death by the poorhouse governor's clerk, John McPherson, on 28 April 1863.


Francis married Jane KIERNAN. (Jane KIERNAN was born about 1790.)


Francis next married Jean ROSEBOROUGH. (Jean ROSEBOROUGH was born about 1796 in Ireland.)
