SMALL, Joseph ¹

  General Notes:

The 1851 census recorded a couple called Joseph and Margaret Small and their seven children living at 6 Castle Street Hamilton. Their daughter Margaret was aged 2. The head of the house, Joseph was recorded as a China Merchant and Pawnbroker. Both he and his wife were born in Ireland.

Joseph Small was already deceased when his daughter Margaret died in 1894. He was described in her death certificate as a pawnbroker. ^{2 3}

Joseph married Margaret MULLEN. (Margaret MULLEN was born about 1825 in Ireland and died between 27 November 1872 and 26 June 1894.)
