The 1851 census recorded William Quigley as 16 years old. He worked as a dock labourer.

The 1861 census recorded William Quigley as 28 years old and born in Ireland. He worked as a labourer.

William Quigley, who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of his father, John's death before Robert Campbell, registrar, at Greenock on 3 June 1862 and made his X mark. ^{3 4 5}

William married Margaret CURRIE, daughter of CURRIE and MALONE, on 22 June 1856 in Old Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.¹ (Margaret CURRIE was born about 1831 and died in 1857 in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland ⁶.)

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was William Gordon, RC Clergyman. The witnesses were Hugh Quigley, who made his X mark, and Bridget McCann, who made her X mark.

William Quigley was aged 25 years and unmarried. He worked as a coal labourer. His address was Adamson Road, back entry. He made his X mark.

Margaret Currie also made her X mark. She too was 25 years old, and her address was Back Entry. She was single and was a cotton mill worker. Her mother, whose name was recorded as 'not known', was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 4 July 1856 at Greenock, John Hislop being the signing registrar.
