   Cause of his death was paralysis of 8 months duration.

  General Notes:

In the 1841 census Joseph was recorded living with Daniel and Margaret Quigly and family at Smith's Lane, Greenock, Renfrewshire. His occupation was noted as 'labourer'. Joseph's age was recorded in the 50-54 years age range and Rose's in the 50-54 years range. Nicholas was recorded as 10 years of age.

The 1851 census recorded Joseph and Rose in Greenock, Renfrewshire. Joseph was recorded as aged 80 years and Rose as aged 60 years. Nicholas was recorded as aged 21 years.

Joseph Quigley who died in Greenock in 1855 was recorded as aged 93 years. He had been a coal labourer. He had been born in Londonderry, and had been 60 years in Greenock. Joseph was survived by his wife Rose and his son Nicholas, aged 25 years. He was buried in Greenock Cemetery as certified by Stewart Allison, undertaker. 2 5 6

  Medical Notes:

No medical attendant assisted Joseph at his death.

His son Nicholas Quigley informed the registrar at Greenock, Robert Campbell, on 1 October 1855, of Joseph's death.


Joseph married Mary FINIE. (Mary FINIE was born about 1790.)


Joseph next married Rose WALSH on 3 July 1828 in St Andrew's RC Chapel, Great Clyde Street, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Rose WALSH was born about 1791 and died in 1866 in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland 7.)


  Marriage Notes:

An OPR proclamation of banns was dated 23 June 1828 in West or Old Parish Greenock, Renfrewshire. 8
