  General Notes:

This is probably the man 'Harry Donaldson' whose story was known to family who had had no personal knowledge of him. Reputedly he was sent down the pit to work and hated it. He got an engineering apprenticeship at Babcock and Wilcox after starting by sweeping floors. Supposedly he became wealthy from an invention or development that was adopted universally in the making of boilers. He became a Justice of the Peace in later life and entered gardening and photographic competitions.

Henry Donaldson, designed 'Step Brother' of James, of 7 Muirpark Avenue, Renfrew, gave notice of James Donaldson's death before the registrar at Renfrew on 22 October 1938.
Note: Henry was a half brother of James since they shared a father.

Henry Donaldson died in 1974 at the age of 97 years. His death certificate recorded him as a combustion engineer who had been married twice and widowed. His usual residence was 26 Loch Drive, Helensburgh. His parents were of course both deceased. 3

  Medical Notes:

R. Watkins certified the cause of death.

Henry Donaldson, son of the deceased man, of 23 Ballantine Drive, Ayr, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar at Helensburgh on 1 October 1974, the anniversary of his father, Henry Donaldson senior's birth when, had he lived, he would have become 98 years old.

Henry married Jeanie Reid McBRIDE, daughter of Doalty McBRIDE and Jane REID, on 14 July 1904 in St James RC Church, Renfrew, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (Jeanie Reid McBRIDE was born about 1879.)
