  General Notes:

Sarah Donaldson, Agnes Donaldson's step mother, was the informant of her death in 1884. She had been present where Agnes died and gave notice before the registrar at Irvine on 4 January 1884, and made her X mark.

Sarah Jane Donaldson was the informant of her daughter Annie's death, two months after the death of Annie's father, James. Sarah Jane gave notice before the registrar at Baillieston on 20 June 1888 and made her X mark.

Jane gave birth to an illegitimate child, James, in December 1890. She gave notice of his birth before the registrar at Baillieston on 26 December 1890 and made her X mark.

1891 Census:
Jane Donaldson, a widow, was living in Penders Row Baillieston as head of a household that consisted of herself and her four children, ranging in age from 3 months to 14 years. The eldest was Henry, at 14 years already a coal miner. Jane was 12 years old, and the two young children, like Jane born in Baillieston, Annie and James were 2 years and 3 months respectively. Jane Donaldson, their mother was recorded as 35 years old and had been born in Ireland. Henry had been born in Irvine. 5


Sarah married James DONALDSON, son of William DONALDSON and Ann McGRAW, on 23 November 1875 in Irvine parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (James DONALDSON was born about 1835 in Ireland 6 and died 14 April 1888 at 8.25 pm in Baillieston, Lanarkshire, Scotland 4.). The cause of his death was heart disease over 6 months and congestion of the lungs over 5 days.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Thomas Keane, Catholic Clergyman, Irvine. The witnesses were William Brodie, who made his X mark, and Ellen Brodie.

The bridegroom was a widower of 41 years of age who was a coal miner. He lived in Irvine. Both of his parents were deceased.

The bride, who made her X mark, was unmarried and aged 20 years. She was a domestic servant by occupation, who lived at Dubbs, parish of Kilwinning. Her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Irvine on 25 November 1875. 1

Sarah next married UNKNOWN. (UNKNOWN was born about 1850.)
