William married Eliza McCORMICK, daughter of Charles McCORMICK and Ann McCANN, on 16 July 1863 in St John's RC Chapel, Portugal Street, Glasgow, Scotland. (Eliza McCORMICK was born about 1836 in Strabane, County Tyrone, Ireland and died 12 April 1882 at 4.00 am in 517 Bedlay Street, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of her death was bronchitis over 2 months.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Fr John Kerr, one of the clergymen of St John's Catholic Church, Portugal Street, Glasgow. The witnesses were Stephen Stewart and Bridget Cary or Cory who made her X mark.

William Masterson, who made his X mark, was an apprentice tobacco spinner. He was a single man of 21 years of age. He lived at 9 Wellington Lane. His father was deceased.

Eliza McCormick also made her X mark. She was 21 years of age and lived at the 15 Commercial Road, Glasgow. She was unmarried and worked as a cotton powerloom worker. Both of her parents were deceased by then, although the certificate records only her father as being deceased.

The marriage was registered at Glasgow on 27 July 1863.
