1. Embarcation: aboard Lake Manitoba, 17 May 1983, at Liverpool, England. 6 7 It seems there were two ships of this name. The one most likely to come up in a google search is not the one Susan and David sailed in for its maiden voyage was in 1901 and it was a more modern liner. This is what the earlier Lake Manitoba was like:

"LAKE MANITOBA 1880
3,322 gross tons, length 355ft x 40.2ft, one funnel, three masts, iron hull, single screw, speed 11 knots, accommodation for 85-1st, 45-2nd and 900-3rd class passengers. Launched on 26th Apr.1880 by J & G. Thomson for Canada Shipping Co., she started her maiden voyage on 10th Jun.1880 between Liverpool - Quebec - Montreal. 30th Nov.1881 first winter service voyage Liverpool -- New York. On 14th Jun.1885 she was wrecked on Miquelon Island with no loss of life. [North Atlantic Seaway, vol.3, p.974 by N. R. P. Bonsor]"

Susan married Richard CADDELL, son of David CADDELL and Jane FINNIGAN, on 25 June 1880 in 73 Springfield Road, Glasgow, Scotland.1 2 (Richard CADDELL was born in 1856 in Coleraine, County Derry, Ireland 1 and died on 25 September 1905 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. Gilbert Laurie presided. The witnesses were Thomas Curry, and John Walker.

The bridegroom was an unmarried man of 24 years of age who was a papermill stoker by occupation. He lived at 73 Springfield Road Glasgow.

The bride was unmarried and aged 22 years. She was a papermill worker who lived at 37 Dale Street Bridgeton.

The marriage was registered on 28 June 1880 at Glasgow 2
