1861 Census:
James McKendrick, a single man aged 74 years was the head of a household living in Low Blary in the parish of Killean and Kilchenzie in Argyll. He was a farmer and had been born in Kilchenzie. Living with him in the household were his younger brother Alexander and his wife and children, the household in total amounting to ten people between the ages of 4 years and 74 years, housed in a dwelling that had only two windowed rooms.

James McKendrick was recorded as aged 80 years when he died in 1866. He was a single man and a farmer. His parents were deceased. 2 3

The causes of death were certified by William Gibson MD.

One of the brothers of James, Alexander McKendrick, who had been present were his death occurred gave notice before the registrar at Campbeltown on 10 July 1866.
