Another name for James was CURIE, James.2 General Notes: James registered the birth of his son James in August 1855, the first year of statutory registration. The birth certificate recorded James Currie senior as a labourer by occupation, aged 51 years, and born in the parish of Rerrick in Gallowayshire. James was married twice. He married his first wife Jean Cavet at Auchencairn in 1821, then married again at Prestwick in 1849 to Agnes George. The summary of his children was: 2 boys living and 1 girl living, and 4 boys and 3 girls dead. James married Agnes GEORGE, daughter of William GEORGE and Mary CAMERON, on 25 February 1853 in Monkton & Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Agnes GEORGE was born on 19 April 1826 in Ayrshire, Scotland 5, baptised on 28 April 1826 in Monkton & Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland 1 and died 24 December 1879 at 9.15 pm in 14 Braeside, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland 6.). The cause of her death was chronic bronchitis over 35 days, having been confined to bed. James next married Jean CAVET on 2 June 1820 in Rerrick, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.2 (Jean CAVET was born about 1800.) |
